1920s Uncatalogued Siamese “Champions” Tom Gibbons

1920s Uncatalogued Siamese “Champions” Tom Gibbons

There are certain legendary prewar rarities among international boxing type card collectors that are missing from even the most advanced collections: Machado Tobacco from Jamaica, Turquinos from Cuba, Chocolatines Mercedes from Uruguay, etc. This card is one of those: so rare that unless you know what it is you don't know what you have. The best evidence is that it was issued for use in Siam (Thailand) and southeast Asia by a British manufacturer, probably a tobacco company. The few that have surfaced over the years have come from Thai or British sellers who are unaware of the rarity of the issue. The checklist stands at only a few cards. One has not been offered for sale publicly in years, so now is your chance to add it to your type collection.
