A most memorable image of this tragic 1921 Epsom Derby winner, Humorist. The vintage print shows the handsome chestnut colt being led out by his champion jockey, Steve Donaghue. Humorist died from a sudden illness just 3 weeks after that heroic performance on Epsom Downs, Surrey, UK. Print is NRMT and framed to 24x28”. Along the bottom white border is elegantly printed, “painted by A.J. Munnings, R.A.” (left), “copyright 1924 by Frost & Reed Ltd. (of Bristol England) & in the United States of America” (center), & “Humorist and Donaghue Going out to the Derby 1921” (right).
