1923 Ban Johnson Signed Three Page Typed Letter
This three page type written letter from American League president Ban Johnson to Yankees’ General Manager Ed Barrow is dated May 18, 1923. There is some extraordinary content in the letter referring to the “New” Yankee Stadium which has just opened. Ban Johnson died in 1931 which makes copies of his signature extremely difficult to come by and this letter is boldly signed in black fountain pen ink, ranking an 8/10. The paper quality of the official American League president letterhead is EX-MT to NRMT with the 3 fold lines, evidence from being put into an envelope and mailed but with no other wrinkles and very clean edges. There are a few thumbtack holes on the top of the letter.
