1924 Baseball Tour of England Autograph Album
An amazing assemblage of signatures and newspaper clippings from numerous papers printed all over the U.K. - an amazing public response to the 1924 Tour of England. The two best American teams went to London to display the very finest game of baseball and sportsmanship. Opening page contains 21 black fountain pen signatures including Ed A. Walsh, the wives of John McGraw & Hughie Jennings, even the ship's captain. Following are 57 pages filled with newspaper illustrations, articles & never seen photos from the "Daily Mail, "Liverpool Post", "South Wales News" and many many more. The worth of this album is in its last two pages. Featured are important team photos for the New York Giants and the Chicago White Sox. Note their jerseys and pants - these are the nicest uniforms ever made; each one bears an American flag patch. The Giants wore them on their chest, the White Sox wore them on their sleeves. The piece de resistance is the gorgeous signatures, 15 from each team placed next to each photo. These signatures represent the very best talent in the Major Leagues at the time, most of whom went on to become immortal Hall of Famers: "Bill Walker, Casey Stengel, Frank Frisch, Heine Groh, 'Hank' Gowdy, Travis Jackson, Hugh Jennings, Ted Lyons, 'Sam' Rice, Urban Faber, John Evers, Dave J. Bancroft, Irish Meusal, Jack Bentley, Walter 'Butch' Henline, W. Huntzinger, Williw Kamm, John Clancy, 'Happy' Foreman, Frank Wojack, 'Val' Picinich, Ray Morehart, Charlie Robertson, Bib Falk, Johnny Mostil", & more. They have also signed with their positions next to their names, which is unusual and rarely seen.
