1926 Army vs. Navy Program
Over 100,000 spectators attended the Nov. 27, 1926, Army-Navy Game at Soldier Field. This game would decide the national championship, as Navy entered undefeated and Army had lost only to Notre Dame. For once the game lived up to all of the pre-game hoop-la, and even though the game ended in a 21-21 tie, Navy was awarded the national championship. Program from the game attests to how much of a major event it was, with a mind-boggling 142 pages of stories, photos, stats, rosters and even aerial perspectives of West Point and Annapolis. Patriotic-flavored cover emblazoned "Army Navy Annual Football Classic and National Dedication Services of Soldier Field" with an armed services eagle, an illustration of hardy players mixing it up, and a Cadet and a Midshipman in full dress gear. 8 x 11" and EX with a dusting of dirt on the outer edges of the cover, slight wrinlking of the corners, and nearly pristine inside pages.
