1926 Hank Gowdy Figural Baseball Trophy (24" tall)
Impressive silver trophy is large cup that stands two feet tall with side handles and lid with Hank Gowdy figural ornament. Figure is in full catcher's gear and kneeling. This award was presented to him during his short hiatus before his final 2 ML seasons with the Boston Braves. Cup engraved, "Franklin Post No. 1, Columbus, Ohio, Extends greetings and best wishes to its honored member and comrade 'Hank' Gowdy Mgr. Columbus Baseball Club. April 29, 1926." American Legion badge at center. Intricately detailed with ivy trim. Some surface damage to reverse, o/w EX.
