1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig "Bustin' Babes & Larrupin' Lou's" Barnstorming Tour Dual-Signed Baseball (PSA)

1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig "Bustin' Babes & Larrupin' Lou's" Barnstorming Tour Dual-Signed Baseball (PSA)

Official Pacific Coast League (Harry Williams) baseball signed in blue fountain pen by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig during their historic 1927 "Bustin' Babes and Larrupin' Lou's" postseason barnstorming tour. Ruth's signature adorns its customary place of honor across the sweet spot, while Gehrig's appears on a side panel. Both signatures are fairly uniform in strength and grade 6/10. A black-ink notation, in an unknown hand on a separate side panel, records the date it was signed: "Oct 29, 1927." (According to PSA, there is evidence of possible signature removals on the ball.) Research indicates that Ruth and Gehrig appeared at Fireman's Park in Fresno, California, on that date for what was one of the last stops on their celebrated tour.

The “Bustin’ Babes and Larrupin’ Lou’s” barnstorming tour, which traversed the country in both 1927 and 1928, was one of the most successful postseason tours in baseball history, as thousands flocked to the ballpark at each venue to see the two greatest sluggers in the game. Ruth and Gehrig were the only two players on the tour who traveled. Each of their respective teams was rostered with local talent, which only added to the “grassroots” spirit of the tour. Most of the games were never completed because the fans often rushed the field in the later innings to personally meet their idols. The ball displays light soiling and is in Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA.
