1927 Jack Dempsey vs. Jack Sharkey Fight Film Promotional Poster
Original Jack Dempsey vs. Jack Sharkey fight film poster dates to 1927. Printed by Dominion Printing in Toronto, Canada. It is on a white paper backround mounted on heavy linen material with still bold red and blue lettering. It reads in all block letters, "Another Big Scoop…Official Fight Pictures…Jack Dempsey-Jack Sharkey Fight...At The Yankee Stadium New York." "Positively the Greatest Fight Ever Filmed." "See the Disputed Knockout Blow". The poster has had some slight restoration and is in overall VG condition with several surface scratches, creases and blemishes. Hand written on the surface in black is a price list; $.75 for men, $.55 for ladies, $.25 for children. Sharkey was beating Dempsey when the fight ended controversially. Dempsey struck some questionably low blows and Sharkey turned to the referee to complain, leaving himself unprotected. Dempsey punched Sharkey's chin, knocking him out cold.
