1928-29 USC National Champions Type I Photographs (15)
Even though they declined their invitation to the Rose Bowl, the 1928 USC Trojans finished undefeated National Champions. These 15 one-of-a-kind photographs chronicle their magical campaign as well as the following season, when the Trojans were 10-2 but were retroactively selected champs yet again after winning the Rose Bowl. Both action shots and promo stills alike, the pics were commissioned by the team and many have typed captions on the back. Among the stud athletes captured on camera: All-American end Francis Tappaan, Ernie Pinckert, Nate Barrager and Russ Saunders.
