Hungarian stage actor Bela Lugosi (originally named Bela Blasko) starred in the smash-hit Broadway play when the director’s original choice for the part, Lon Chaney, Sr. died of throat cancer. When Lugosi appeared on screen as Dracula he became the definitive Dracula to everyone. This poster advertises the shows of the week of November 5, 1928 at Ford’s Theatre (Bela was there).
