1928 Walter Johnson Signed Letter (PSA GEM MINT 10)
Fantastic Walter Johnson PSA Gem Mint 10 letter from 1928, the year he first began managing. Johnson was ill and in the hospital when he responded to Captain Joseph Sullivan, writing "Dear Captain Sullivan: Thanks for your kind letter of the 2d. However, I want you to know that I am now progressing rapidly and hope to be out shortly. With appreciation for your interest, I am, Very sincerely yours, Walter Johnson." Following a sterling playing career that earned him entry into the first class of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Johnson picked up managing in 1928, starting first in the minor leagues with the Newark Bears, before graduating to the Majors the following year with the Washington Nationals. The Big Train remains the all-time career leader in shutouts, second in wins, and fourth in complete games. Letter comes with original mailing envelope.
