1929 Philadelphia Athletics Team Signed Panoramic Photograph (16x40” framed)
Adjectives fail to suffice in the description of this jewel, among the finest signed pieces we have offered to the collecting public. Phenomenal. Breathtaking. Superlative. None could express the glory that is this narrow photographic rectangle commemorating one of the greatest teams to ever share a diamond. Perhaps second only to the 1927 Yankees in terms of greatness and collectible desirability, Mack’s powerhouse franchise has never been better represented than it is here. Each player stands shoulder to shoulder, with his signature, averaging 8 to 9/10, inked across the white uniform he is wearing. Left to right, the historic names read as follows: Collins, Gleason, French, Dykes, Cronin, Summa, Bishop, Hale, LeBourveau, Cochrane, Perkins, Breckinridge, Foxx, Miller, Simmons, Rommel, Walberg, Grove, Ehmke, Earnshaw, Quinn, Haas, Shores, Burns, Boley and Earle Mack. At their feet is printed, “Philadelphia ‘Athletics,’ American League Pennant Winners, ‘1929,’ Copyright by J. Bodziak, Philadelphia, PA.” Above them, in vintage ink, someone has penned, “World Champions 1929,” though he was unsatisfied with the contrast against the dark background and rewrote it across the upper chests of the three men to Connie Mack’s right. The photograph itself is in exceptional condition with not a crease, tear or stain to be seen. Matted and framed in a manner fitting to its exceptional value and importance.
