1930's Baseball Autograph Book
Near pristine school autograph book is filled to the brim with NRMT baseball signatures from the '30s and '40s that will pique the interest of dedicated collectors. The book clearly was compiled with great care, with not too many autographs allowed to congest any single page, and single pages devoted to the highly valued signatures of Walter Johnson and Rogers Hornsby -- whose markers are among the best we've ever seen of those two distinguished gents. Such crisp and clean signatures also come from a slew of other HOFers mixed with some ordinary Joes whose names will elicit nods of recognition. Rare indeed is the autograph collection that pairs Connie Mack with the perhaps even rarer autograph of Mack's son Earle, who in 1910 played exactly five games for his old man, hitting .125 with the A's before becoming a a coach and assistant manager for the next 25 years. Other HOFers in tow are Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Herb Pennock, Ted Lyons, Earl Averill, Lefty Gomez, Red Ruffing, Charlie Gehringer, Frank Frisch, as well as favorites of the era like "Buck" (Bobo) Newsom, Cecil Travis, "Jolly Cholly" Dressen, Dick Bartell, Monte Pearson, Bud Baker, Pinky Higgins, Dolph Camilli, Sailor Vaughn, Hal Trosky, Chick Hafey, Bob Johnson, Lee Grissom, etc. Signatures are all on the high end, solid 8's and 9s, with the Johnson and Hornsby near perfect. 5 x 6" book is EX-NRMT with a light fold and other minor wear on the black and gold cover. Some delighftul period art illustrating the first few pages that might make you want to sing "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree."
