1930's "Braves Field" Baseball Game with Elaborate Folk Art Grandstand
This "Automatic Baseball Game" has been turned into a work of art by the 1930's person who loved it. Lithographed cardboard game has been set into an elaborate wooden stadium measuring 24x24". The huge grandstand (6" tall) brilliantly made in two separate wood sections is entitled "Perfecto Park" (for the cigars). In original red & yellow paint which has the look of an old country farmhouse. Best of all is the advertising on the home run walls, which looks suspiciously like Braves Field in Boston. Cutting out full color clips from magazines and such, these ingenuous ads for Wheaties, Coca-Cola, Gillette Razors, Wrigley's Gum, Ballantine Beer and Ovaltine look incredible! Attractive tin lithographed ballplayers stand at the ready. There are two sets here, one for each team. Spring to bat is broken o/w excellent condition.
