1930's Dizzy Dean Wristwatch
Jerome Hanna "Dizzy" Dean, Baseball Hall of Famer, was best known for leading the 1934 "Gashouse Gang" team -- the most southwest American team at the time. Americans at this time could identify with players like Dean and Pepper Martin as rough and hard-working over other graceful "pretty boys" and highly-paid players on other teams. This watch is a rare and special find. With a brown leather strap, this watch was made between 1930-1937, while Dizzy was pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals. Watch face has Dean in the middle, with his name written across in black script. Color still good on uniform. Numbers 1-12 are listed on watch, with the exception of "6" on which there is a smaller circle numbered from "10" to "60" by tens. Watch says, "Made in USA."
