1930 Charles Lindberg Original Glass Plate Negatives (35)
He was an American aviator, author, inventor, explorer and social activist. Charles Lindbergh was nothing short of an icon, and this terrific lot of 4 x 5" glass plate negatives of him and his glider are quite simply gems! It was in May of 1927 when "Lucky Lindy" stunned the world by completing a non-stop flight from Garden City, New York to Le Bourget Field in Paris in one day, in his famed "Spirit of St. Louis" one-seater. Three years after Lindbergh's unprecedented achievement, the Medal of honor recipient is front and center in these spectacular shots, many of which depict the aircraft, both on the ground and in the air. There are also images of Lindbergh on a motorcycle, working in and on his plane, and standing beside a tripod. The original envelopes housing the plates are deteriorating but the condition of the San Francisco Examiner images is EX - a real treasure!
