1930s News Agent "Comic Books" Hand-Painted Wood Sign
This hand-painted wood sign was likely used by a news agent in the 1930s and is unique because it's rare to find a wood sign with "Comics" on it. In crimson letters on a white background, the sign reads, "Magazines - Comics, Daily Papers." Given the time period, the sign's owner could have sold Action #1, in which Superman made his debut, or an EC Comics horror - the first early types of comic mags. This is a great piece of American folk art from a time when an important medium was just beginning to take off.
