1931 Tour of Japan Team Signed Baseball
After the 1931 season ended, 13 players toured Japan and Hawaii matching up against local teams (and winning all their games). This ball has been signed by the entire USA team that traveled to play exhibition baseball in Japan. This ball is special in that it came from the estate of Hall of Famer Lefty Grove. Grove even identified the ball in his writing "Major League All Stars Touring Japan 1931" - it was his personal souvenir from the tour. Thirteen dark black fountain pen signatures average 8/10. The Official National League (Heydler) ball has been shellacked to preserve the signatures and has toned to an even color. It includes signatures from Grove, Lou Gehrig, Lefty O'Doul, Frank Frisch, Willie Kamm, Muddy Ruel, Rabbit Maranville, Mickey Cochrane, Bruce Cunningham, Al Simmons, George Kelly, Tom Oliver and George Kelly.
