1933 Jesse Owens Signed High School Yearbook

1933 Jesse Owens Signed High School Yearbook

Few men did more to reshape public perception of African Americans than Jessie Owens. In 1933, he famously humiliated Hitler and his Nazi athletes by crushing them in every event they met him in. A consummate athlete, with lightening-quick feet and true heart, Owens is remembered as one of the USA's greatest champions, securing four gold medals in those infamous Berlin summer games. This piece, Owens' high school yearbook, is the first signed copy our experts have ever come across. The signature, in fountain pen over a picture of Jesse with the caption "East Tech's World Champion," rates a 6/10. The book and contents are in excellent (EX) condition, and feature a small piece about the track team, reading in part "Jesse Owens, sensational star of the team, broke numerous records throughout the season."
