1935-40 Seabiscuit Program Collection w/"Match Race of the Century" (20+)

1935-40 Seabiscuit Program Collection w/"Match Race of the Century" (20+)

Unlikely champion Seabiscuit became an American symbol of hope during the Great Depression, and his legacy has only grown over the decades, inspiring books, movies and documentaries. This magnificent lot commemorates the champion racehorse, with more than 20 programs dating back as early as his third career race in 1935 and as late as his last career race/win. There are eight win programs from 1937-40, including the 1938 "Match Race of the Century" vs. War Admiral, 1937 Santa Anita Handicap, Continental Handicap, 1938 Del Mar match race vs. Ligaroti, and his last career win on March 2, 1940. The majority of the others are from Santa Anita races, with one of the lesser programs having a detached cover. Four others are unscored, including his last race, and most have creases and small tears. The overall condition averages VG-EX.
