1935 MGM 10th Anniversary Movie Poster Set in Original Folder
Rare piece from Spain is not to be believed. Outer folder shows the MGM logo and celebrates their 10th anniversary 1924-1934. Produced in 1935. Inside there are thirty-seven two-sided full-color mini movie posters on glossy stock, each measuring 9x12". Each a wonderful work of movie art unto itself. There are nineteen devoted to individual stars in the MGM sky including Garbo, Weissmuller (as Tarzan), Jackie Cooper, Clark Gable, William Powell, Walter Huston, Myrna Loy, Joan Crawford, & Wallace Beery. There are eighteen posters devoted to particular films: three Laurel & Hardy's (Sons of the Desert, Pack Up Your Troubles and their first starring feature film Pardon Us), Weissmuller & O'Sullivan in Tarzan and his Mate (noted for its pre-code sensuality), Treasure Island (Beery, Cooper, Barrymore), Garbo's The Painted Veil, Marion Davies in Peg O' My Heart & Going Hollywood, Gary Cooper in Operator 13, Manhattan Melodrama (Gable, Loy, William Powell), Joan Crawford in Sadie McKee, Gable & Crawford in Chained, and Garbo's fabulous Queen Christina (interesting 6x9" foldout) and more. Four of the eighteen (two Garbo, Treasure, Tarzan) are double size foldouts opening to 18x12". The folder is in only fair condition, but the posters are overall EX. The only specimen of this cinematic dream known to exist.
