1937 Kenesaw Mountain Landis "Prohibition" Letter (PSA)
This vintage typed letter displays a rare and terrific use of the word "Volsteadian," referencing how little the minor leagues listen to the commissioner. The Volstead Act started prohibition and "Volsteadian" refers to the alcohol content allowed in the beginning of prohibition. Kenesaw Mountain Landis composed and signed this document in order to rescind a fine levied against someone in the Middle Atlantic League in 1937. Landis was a judge who also happened to serve as Commissioner of Baseball for the last 24 years of his life. The exceptionally preserved letter is in NM condition. Includes PSA LOA.
