1938 Dopey Goache on Paper Drawing
Original image of Dopey dated 4-8-38 with the signature of noted artist Les Warfel in his earlier years. Later the official artist for the Jesse James Museum this is one of his earliest works. Superb illustration of Dopey (who, memorably, never spoke because, as Happy explained, "he never tried") is lightly colored with blue and pink pastel shades. In the back, Warfel inscribed, "Dopey by a Dope!" with a caricature of himself. 6 1/2 x 7 1/4" and EX.
