1939-1940 Stanley Cup Champion New York Rangers Photos (21)
The team that will go into the history books, the record books and the books, period. These 21 images are all wire photos and are pure bliss. They are all from the 1939-1940 season, the year the Rangers last won it before Messier and the boys lifted the curse. There are many great regular season game action shots including photos versus Montreal (Mantha, Patrick), Boston (Brimsek), Boston (Patrick, Coulter), Detroit, Toronto (Hextall, Horner), Toronto (one with Colville, two with Apps) (4) and fight with Montreal (2). There are some from the 19-game winning streak with Chicago ending it (Colville, Hextall), Boston at 17 and beating Toronto to set it at 19. There are four Stanley Cup playoff games including two from the Finals versus the Leafs and two with Boston. Best of all are these two images: a team photo after tying the Canadiens winning streak record at 18 and a group shot of the team with the Stanley Cup. Overall 7” x 9". EX with some publishing marks. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.</p>
