1939-40 Leo Durocher Brooklyn Dodgers Uniform
This spectacular home uniform consists of jersey, pants and cap once belonging to Brooklyn legend Leo "The Lip" Durocher. The jersey is all original with "Dodgers" in blue felt across the front and number 2 on the back. "L. Durocher" is sewn in the collar while "39" (depicting the year) is sewn in the tail. There's a Spalding size 42 tag in the collar along with a Dry Clean Only tag. The Zipper front is still in working order and the pants have Spalding size 40 and Dry Clean Only tagging in the waist band. The hat was not used by Durocher but is a game-worn style from the time period. The jersey and pants originated from the Durocher family and are in immaculate condition, with practically no evidence of use. The jersey is also missing the 1939 Baseball Centennial patch. There is no indication that it was ever sewn on the sleeve. An often controversial figure, Durocher added to his legacy by becoming one of the most successful managers in history, compiling over 2,000 victories, which lands him in the all-time Top 5 in that category.
