1939 Comic Character Wooden Pencil Toys (14)

1939 Comic Character Wooden Pencil Toys (14)

Important licensed pieces from the famed U.S. pencil company. Fourteen different pencil toys from 1930s Spain, made by Opera Mundi for the Faber Company. All are authorized by Disney and King Features Syndicate (the pig in the car reads “Concesion Walt Disney”) and we have seen promotional paperwork from Walt Disney. There is a set of Mickey and Minnie that are fully jointed, a Popeye in the truck, Olive Oyl, King Bombo (from Gulliver’s Travels released by K.F.S in 1939) and Three Little Pigs, Mickey and a large dressed cat, and a pirate, cowboy and Snow White (not Disney). The largest is the Popeye truck which measures 11.5x6” and the smallest the generic cowboy, pirate and Snow, which measure almost 4” high. Condition is from VG+ to NRMT and averages EX+.
