1939 Hall of Fame Program Signed by Seven Inductees
1939 was the year baseball celebrated its centennial and this program commemorates the celebration held at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown N.Y., the “birthplace” of baseball. The festivities included the Dedication of the National Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame followed by the Cavalcade of Baseball at Doubleday field. Without a doubt this was one of the most exciting and pivotal days in baseball history. The program is made even more special by the (18) signatures covering its pages. Speaker and Lajoie have signed in pencil, but the rest are in blue or back fountain pen. Overall the signatures grade 8 on scale of 1-10. Seven of that premier year’s HOF inductees signed the program and include Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Cy Young, George Sisler, Connie Mack, Eddie Collins and Larry Lajoie. Eleven others have also signed and include future Hall of Famers Chas. Gehringer, Clark Griffith, Ford Frick and Lloyd Waner. Even the Postmaster General, James Farley has signed. Program is VG-EX and features the scorecard for the Wagners vs. The Collins'. Unscored. The overall quality of the program is EX with good paper quality and very minor age discoloration.
