1939 Princeton Banner from the Year JFK Enrolled

1939 Princeton Banner from the Year JFK Enrolled

A brief stint but he was there. John F. Kennedy was admitted as a member of Princeton's class of 1939, but left campus after becoming ill and later enrolled at Harvard University. 32 x 67" black wool banner proudly embroidered in red "Princeton 1939", which may have festooned the football stadium that season, perhaps during the victory over hated rival Yale. The fact that the banner stems from the last year of that decade lends some added heft, since the Tiger dominated that period, and the '35 edition of the team has been called the best college team in history. Of note as well, the first TV broadcast of a football game occurred at Princeton that same year. Blanket is so thick and plush that it could have been used as a blanket with which to kidnap the Harvard or Yale mascot. Banner is EX+ with tears on the upper right and lower left corners.
