1940's Joe DiMaggio Signed Painting
Fantastic gouache on artist's board was done by an expert caricaturist of the era. Depicts Joe at his dapper best wearing a floral silk tie of the 1940's era (bespeaking the age of the piece) and the toothiest smile this side of the Bronx. Interestingly, it is in its original period frame (overall 23x19"), which sacrilegiously was con-structed in Brooklyn (original 1940's framing tag on verso). We sold this piece at auction about 10 years ago for nearly $3,000 (consigned by its 50+ year owner). We are pleased to have it back.
