1940's National Girls Baseball League Wilda Mae Turner Photos (4)
As a pitcher Turner, who went by the nickname "Willie," once reeled off a string of 84 scoreless innings, winning 102 straight games as an amateur in Oakland. As a professional she played for the Chicago Bloomer Girls of the NGBL. This small lot of photos (4) from the SF Examiner features Turner. One image is from 1939 when she was with the World Champion Alameda Girls, the other three from the mid 1940's. Sizes range from 7" x 9" to 8" x 10" and conditions from VG-EX plus. One has newspaper edit markings.
