1940 A.L. Champion Detroit Tigers Silver Tray Presented to Bennie Oosterbaan

1940 A.L. Champion Detroit Tigers Silver Tray Presented to Bennie Oosterbaan

Spectacular presentation tray features engraved portrait of Detroit Tigers team owner Walter Briggs. Underneath the portrait the following is engraved: "Detroit Tigers American League Champions 1940 Presented by the Baseball Citizens of Detroit." Surrounding this are the signatures of the entire team including Hank Geenberg, Earl Averill, Charlie Gehringer, Hal Newhouser, Dizzy Trout, Rudy York and many more. This silver tray with appropriate hallmarks weighs over 115 ounces and measures 15x26" including the ornate handles. Overall better than excellent condition, it was the prize presented to players and VIPs for the rare accomplishment of unseating the New York Yankees from their traditional position atop the league. This specimen was presented to legendary Michigan athlete Bennie Oosterbaan and comes with folksy letter of authenticity following its provenance in detail.
