1940 Billy Southworth Handwritten Letter to Major Leaguer with "Joe Jackson" Content (PSA)
A pristine, four-page handwritten letter from Hall of Famer Billy Southworth to Larry Eschen, the son of former teammate Jimmy Eschen. In the letter, Southworth mentions joining the Cleveland Club in 1913 along with his time in professional baseball. He says of the time, "Your father, Jimmy Eschen, played center field, Joe Jackson played right and I played left field." Southworth goes on to praise Larry's father, saying "Your dad was a great fielder and had one of the great throwing arms of that time." The letter is dated January 22, 1940, and comes with the original envelope as well, which is signed by Southworth at the top left, though there is paper loss from it being opened. Southworth signs again at the end of the letter, with an additional "Billy" and "Billy Southworth" in the letter for a total of 3.5 signatures. The signatures and handwriting rate 9/10. There is a horizontal fold on each page to fit into envelope, otherwise it is EX-MT. Includes PSA LOA.
