1940 Chicago White Sox Comiskey Park Centennial Sign
The 1940 Chicago White Sox finished 82-72 and tied for fourth in the American League, eight games behind the pennant-winning Tigers. From that season comes this brilliant, red, white and blue Centennial sign, as the previous year of 1939 marked the 100-year anniversary of America‚s pastime. The cardboard ticket advertisement features Uncle Sam in red and white striped pants and blue vest swinging a bat. The Chisox‚s regular-season home dates are listed, and most interesting is that first game on April 16 vs. Cleveland, as Indians ace Bob Feller no-hit Chicago that afternoon - still the only Opening Day no-no in Major League history. Amazing graphics and condition. 14x22".
