After a hard fought, season-long pennant race that was decided at the wire, Detroit bested Cleveland to take a much deserved A.L. flag, powered by the bats of league MVP Greenberg, fellow .300 hitters Gehringer, York, and McCosky, and twenty-game winner Newsom.This stunning, high quality, engraved silver presentational tray features a likeness of Tigers’ owner Walter Briggs, “The Detroit Tigers, American League Champions 1940, Presented by the Baseball Citizens of Detroit,” and thirty-six signatures, including Greenberg, Gehringer, Averill, Newhouser, Newsom, McCosky, York, Rowe, Trout, Fox, Kress, Miller, Shea, Baker, and Briggs.These trays were presented to the entire team. This exemplar is in EX-MT condition with slight tarnishing. Measures 15.5x25” with makers mark stamped on the bottom.
