1940 Jimmie Foxx Signed Boston Red Sox Picture Pack Photograph (JSA)
Jimmie Foxx, known as "Double X," was a Hall of Fame slugger who played in the Major Leagues for 20 seasons. Offered is a Jimmie Foxx Boston Red Sox signed picture pack black and white photo. Also known as "The Beast," for his muscular physique and home run prowess, Foxx played for the Philadelphia Athletics (1925-35), the Boston Red Sox (1936-42), the Chicago Cubs (1942 and '44), and the Philadelphia Phillies (1945). Foxx was mainly a first baseman, but he also played over a hundred games at both third base and catcher. He even pitched in 10 games, and over his career played every position except second base. But mainly, Jimmie Foxx was in the lineup to hit - which he did magnificently. Foxx batted a career .325, with 534 homers, the second most in baseball history, behind only Babe Ruth, when Foxx retired. The Beast also added 1922 RBIs and had an amazing lifetime OPS of 1.038. Foxx was a 3-time AL MVP, a 9-time All-Star, a Triple Crown winner, a 2-time World Series winner, and a 2-time batting champion. It is said that actor Tom Hanks modeled his portrayal of Jimmy Dugan, the manager of the Rockford Peaches in the film A League of Their Own, after a composite both Foxx and Hack Wilson. The photo of Foxx measures 6x8.5", matted and framed to 13.1x16". Foxx signed the photo with a steel-tip fountain pen in black ink. Foxx also penned the "Regards," inscription. The offering comes with a JSA LOA for the signature and inscription.
