1940 World Series Detroit Tigers Sterling Silver Presentation Bat
Sterling silver presentation bat from the 1940 World Series, in which the Tigers defeated the powerful Cincinnati Reds in the seventh game. Major League presentational bat presented to the team President, and is inscribed “To Walter O. Briggs / Tigers 1940 / In the Spirit of Cooperation / and Good Will” and inscribed with more than thirty signatures. The Tigers were blessed with powerful hitters during the 1940 season, including Hank Greenberg (season .340, 41 HR), Barney McCosky (.340), Billy Sullivan (.309) and Charlie Gehringer (.313). All are represented with signatures. L - 22”. The bat is in superb NRMT condition, with lovely patina.
