1940s Champions Basketball Machine

1940s Champions Basketball Machine

This is an extremely rare "Champions Basketball" coin-operated game machine from the 1940s. Appearing more like a piece of furniture than an arcade game, it is encased in a blue and black painted wooden cabinet standing 36" high and measuring 24" wide, 13" deep at its base, and having a console depth of 8". There are vibrant paintings of basketball scenes on both the back and inside of the console; the reverse on-glass basketball design shows some paint loss. Players must insert a coin, push in the coin chute to release the five balls, then turn the handle sharply to the right to throw each ball. The coin slot has been replaced; instead of five balls for a penny, the player now gets five balls for a quarter.
