1940s Chicago Blackhawks Players Jacket
This leather jacket was believed to be worn by a member of the Black Hawks circa 1940s. The jacket is all leather except for cloth around the wrists, neck, and bottom. It is all black except for white stripes around the elbows and on the cloth surfaces. It has the Hawks' crest in black with white outline and encircled by "BLACK HAWKS" arched across the top and "CHICAGO" below. There are plastic buttons, not snaps, and two buttoned black pockets with white trim. The left front pocket bears an American Flag while the right sports a flag with red background and Union Jack in the top corner. While it likely belonged to one of the several players to hail from the UK who appeared during that time frame, there is nothing identifying a player on the jacket itself. It shows extreme wear as the lining is torn and there is fraying of the collar and cuffs, but this item offers a direct connection to the heyday of the NHL's "Original 6."
