1940s Cuban Boxing Posters (4)
Rare and wonderfully evocative Cuban fight posters from the 1940s, from such venues as the Palacio de los Deportes and Arena Nazario. The names of the fighters may not ring a bell, but they were the country's best pugs in a sport that captivated the natives, then and now. Among these were featherweight Miguel Acevedo who battled Dominican champ El Barquerito. Another intriguing match up: Baby Juancito vs. Kid 22-22." Best of all, the price to get in was a mere 60 cents. Three posters are 14 x 22", with green or red lettering and pink-tined images of the fighters, one with black lettering on green paper; a fourth is 11.25 x 14" and also black on green. Understandable wear and mild border foxing, and folds on a couple, but a real treat for fight "fanaticos."
