1941 Whirlaway Belmont Stakes Colorized Photograph
Attaway, Whirlaway! This wonderful framed and matted photo of the champion thoroughbred is hand-tinted in striking colors and features the Belmont Stakes champ with jockey Eddie Arcaro in the winner's circle. The hand-written inscription on the matte reads: "WHIRLAWAY WINS BELMONT STAKES - BELMONT PARK 6/7/41 - JOCKEY EDDIE ARCARO - VALUE $52.270." This hung somewhere special such as the track, but we are not sure of its exact display location. Measuring 17x14.5" in its original, vintage frame, the photo is EX-MT, while the matte and frame are VG.
