1941 World Series Games 1 & 2 Photographer Yankee Stadium - Punched Canceled (PSA)

Presented is a rare 1941 photographer's twice punch canceled pass to Games 1 and 2 of the 1941 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers at Yankee Stadium. The '41 World Series was the first "Subway Series" between the Yankees and the Dodgers, and the teams would have six more through 1956. In Game 1 of the '41 Series, the Yankee's Red Ruffing defeated the Dodgers' Curt Davis by a 3-2 score, with Joe Gordon homering with the bases empty for the Yankees, and Bill Dickey and Gordon getting the other two Yankee RBIs. Mickey Owens and Lew Riggs had the Dodger RBIs. In Game 2, the Dodgers won 3-2. Whitlow Wyatt went the distance to get the win for Brooklyn, and Yankees starter Spud Chandler took the loss. Chandler and Charlie Keller had Yankees RBIs, and Pee Wee Reese, Mickey Owens, and Dolph Camilli drove in the Dodgers runs. In the famous Game 4 of the Series, the Dodgers led 4-3 and then with no one on base, two outs and two strikes on the Tommy Heinrich, Dodgers catcher Mickey Owns had a top of the ninth inning dropped third strike that led to a four run Yankee rally that held up for a 7-4 Yankees win. The Yankees clinched the Series in the next game. Future Hall of Famers in the Series for the Yankees: Joe McCarthy (mgr.), Bill Dickey, Joe DiMaggio, Joe Gordon, Phil Rizzuto, and Red Ruffing. Future Hall of Famers for the Dodgers: Leo Durocher (mgr.), Billy Herman, Joe Medwick, and Pee Wee Reese. Future Hall of Fame umpire Bill McGowan was an arbiter in the Series. The photographer's pass is irregularly shaped, measuring on average 2,5x4.5". Printing, and handwriting by an unknown hand, on the pass reads, "No, 47 World Series 1941 Yankee Stadium, N.Y. Third Base Space 25B International/Game 6 7 x [The numerals for Games 1 and 2 have been canceled and are no longer visible]. Photographer Special Stand." The photographer's pass has been encapsulated and PSA certified PASS AUTHENTIC. The pass exhibits some toning, but is in otherwise excellent condition.
