1942 Tober Baseballs Salesman's Sample Trunk

1942 Tober Baseballs Salesman's Sample Trunk

One of the most interesting "baseballs" piece we have seen. This is an actu-al salesman's trunk used by a Tober baseballs' salesman under the firm name of Anderson Brothers. This trunk was used by a door-to-door sport-ing goods salesman to show off his wares. On the inside top are three price lists dated 1942. Inside is a removable level with individual compart-ments for the baseballs. There are twenty-four compartments with cardboard baseball boxes in all and eight unsigned baseballs. A few of the baseballs are still sealed in their original plastic. There are also four sample balls that are cut in half to show their insides. The bot-tom level is for softballs and there are eighteen compartments with cardboard boxes in all and fifteen balls. Back hinges of the trunk are rusted, separating the lid. Otherwise the balls are EX and the trunk is Very Good. 26x13x8". Ex-Barry Halper Collection.
