1944 R59 Gum Inc. American Beauties Uncut Panels (1 1/2 Complete Sets!)

NOTE: Presented are four unique nine-card panels as issued by Gum Inc. They make up one and one-half complete sets.

Four RARE nine card panels with each featuring nine different cards (each card being approx. 2.5 x 3.2 inches). The sheets are printed on light cardboard stock, but when issued, the arcade cards were mounted onto heavier stock, cut into individual cards, and distributed in "Exhibit card style" penny arcade machines, primarily at amusement parks. Mutoscope was a direct competitor of The Exhibit Company, and from 1940 to 1945 issued cards featuring beautiful pinup artwork by the top illustrators of the day. All things considered, it is a little surprising that these pinup cards were marketed to children at all, as many of the images and jokes were (for the times) very risqué. But sell they did and very well! All 4 sheets presented here are very colorful and striking, in NM condition and ideal for framing and display. A very crisp, clean, sharp-looking collection of scarce classics from American Pop Culture!
