1945 Last Baseball Used in the World Series
ONL (Frick) ball was scooped up and signed by Chicago Cubs shortstop Roy Hughes, whose squad was vanquished by Hank Greenberg's powerful Detroit Tigers in a full seven-game Series. The ball shows a ton of use, as if it was used for the entire bottom half of the ninth inning of Game Seven, which is entirely possible. But the side panel inscription leaves no doubt as to one thing. Vintage 10/10 black ink reads, "Roy Hughes, Last ball of 1945 World Series." What true Tigers fan wouldn't want to sleep with this important relic under his pillow? Obtained from Roy Hughes.
