1945 Ted Atkinson Jockey Contract

This is a one-page jockey contract for services rendered during the period of April 1, through December 15th, 1945. It's signed by Ted Atkinson, who was ultimately inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1957. In 1944, he was North America's leading jockey in both number of wins and money earned. Thus, in 1945 the contract provided a monthly payment of $1000 plus 10% of first place money won. This contract was signed by Atkinson, J.M. Roebling, Shuttinger & N. Asiel, measures 8.25x11.25", autograph is a 9/10 and overall condition is EX.
