1946 Bob Lemon Signed Cleveland Indians Rookie Contract
Old contracts are a great way to see how much baseball salaries have changed over the years and this Bob Lemon Rookie year contract with the Cleveland Indians gave him a salary of $800 a month, a bit different from today’s rookie salaries. The paper documentation is in NRMT condition with three fold lines evident but no other creasing or wrinkling of paper. There is also no age discoloration and both the red and black ink is crisp and bold. The contract is dated February 7, 1946 and is signed by both League President William Harridge in black fountain pen ink and in blue ball point pen by Robert G. Lemon, as well as Roger Pekinpaugh for the Indians. The signatures are both MT quality and easily score a 9/10.
