1946 Jackie Robinson Signed Newark Bears Program with Unsigned Photo
Jackie Robinson made his organized-baseball debut in 1946, as a member of the Montreal Royals of the International League, where Branch Rickey had suspected that racial prejdice would be less of a problem than in the States. Offered is a Newark Bears program from Jackie's days in the International League, matted and framed to 21.5" x 17.5" with a photo of Jackie in his Royals uniform. The program has been signed by thity plus (30+) members of the Montreal Royals and Newark Bears, with Jackie Robinson penning his name boldly in the center. The black ink signatures rate a 9-10 out of 10 in strength and, in addition to Robinson, include Lew Riggs, Dixie Howell, Al Campanis, and more. A fantastic display piece relating to the early days of perhaps the most important player to ever take the field.
