1946 Jackie Robinson Single Signed Baseball
Vintage black ink on sweet spot from the most significant sports figure in the history of baseball, possibly in all of sports. The timing is perfect, signed just before Robinson went to the Majors. Black ink signature and inscription perfectly placed on the sweet spot reads “To the Methots with our thanks for everything Jackie Robinson”. Vintage signature was fondly given to Mr. Methot & his wife, who were Jackie & Rachel’s neighbors in Montreal (when Jackie Robinson was played for the Montreal Royals). Jackie gave the ball as a gift to the Methots just before he left to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Comes with an LOA from friend and neighbor, Edgar Methot, describing the closeness between the Robinson’s & the Methots as well as the provenance of the ball. International League ball is toned, but o/w EX- MT.
