1946 Lou Costello Signed Movie Still

1946 Lou Costello Signed Movie Still

Dated 1946, the same year as Abbott and Costello's seminal classic "The Time of their Lives." Inscribed, "To Steve From your pal Lou Costello." 8x10". The comedy team of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello was America's most popular comedy duo in the 1940s and early 1950s. Their baseball comedy skit, "Who's on First" was rated by Time Magazine on Dec. 26, 1999, as the best comedy routine of the Twentieth Century. Both were from New Jersey: Abbott from Asbury Park and Costello from Paterson. This photo shows a more debonair side of Costello as he looks more like a handsome matinee idol than as a zany comedian. It's a different perspective and makes this a valued collectible. Excellent condition.

This amazing collection of 30,000 autographs was obtained in person by one of the pioneering autograph hounds, Steve Kostrubanic. This Cleveland-area native wandered outside the theaters and sports venues of Cleveland searching for celebrities from the late 1940s right up to the early 2000s. He was fluent in all areas of popular culture including baseball, football, boxing, sports, rock ‘n’ roll, music, cinema, theater, television and more. His later job as Senator Jacob Javitz’s personal driver gave him even greater access to the rich and famous. A Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, he is a member of the Ohio State Boxing Hall of Fame.
