1947 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Photograph-Jackie Robinson Rookie

In 1947, the Brooklyn Dodgers were a very talent laden team with names that would be burned into the history books of major league baseball. More importantly, this squad shall live forever as the first to break baseball’s color barrier when Jackie Robinson joined them for his rookie year. A look down the roster shows one great player after another. Snider, Hodges, Lavagetto, Stanky, Reese, Walker, Furillo, Reiser, Branca, Hatten and all the rest but there can be no argument that it was the arrival of Robinson that towered over this squad. This is an authentically autographed large format team photo that is the first major league squad to have a man of color. The 30 signatures are all in blue fountain pen and are very solid. The Robinson rates a 6/7, Arky Vaughan is a 7, Hodges is an 8, Reese is a 7, Furillo is a 7, Reiser is a 6. Average grade of the autographs is 7 of 10. One can’t help but scan all of the faces in the hopes of discerning some hint as to the attitude of Robinson’s teammates. At the bottom of the photo is a legend identifying each player. In this case it really doesn’t matter because of the clarity of every signature. Photo is 20 x 12” and the history here is unmistakable. A 1.5” tear on the left side barely enters the image and a smaller one on the right border is confined to the edge. Otherwise, the photo portion is clean. Technically VGEX, but looks nicer. Any fan of the game would be proud to own this magnificent piece.
